Gatorade 5v5 Barcelona 2018

Gatorade, with the collaboration of Up2You Sports Marketing, has organized the Gatorade 5v5 world final 2018 in Barcelona. 25 teams, 19 countries represented and one common goal: take home the championship title and view El Clásico from a VIP box at the Camp Nou.

Gatorade 5v5 is an event organized for players between 14 and 16 years old that seeks to foster young talent around the world. The objective is to support a new generation of football players by giving them the opportunity to represent their country in a world tournament and experience the innovation of Gatorade. The company signed an agreement with the UEFA Champions League to maximize the opportunities these teenagers receive.

5v5 started in Latin America in 2015. Six countries participated in the first edition, and three years later that figure has tripled. More than 3,000 teams compete throughout the year in the preliminary rounds at the regional level and later the national finals. The winning team of each country advances to the world final. In 2016 the final was played in Milan, Italy and in 2017 it was played in Cardiff, United Kingdom.

Barcelona hosted the 2018 world final. The teams had the opportunity to visit and train at the Ciutat Esportiva FCB, receive classes taught by coaches from the club, play at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium, receive a VIP tour at the Camp Nou facilities and have access to the latest Gatorade GX innovations. In addition, they enjoyed the culture and gastronomy that the Catalan capital offers. One of the surprises of this year was the stellar visit of Barça’s goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen.
